Introducing “Speedy” – A custom Camper VW T6.1

Every build tells a story, and Speedy is no exception. This VW Transporter T6.1 was commissioned by a family who wanted a van that was as practical as it was fun – something that could handle daily adventures, weekend escapes, and longer holidays with ease. From the first design sketch, this was a custom project shaped entirely around their lifestyle, and it was a real pleasure for the Grizzly team to bring it to life.

Inside, the design is a perfect blend of bold styling and thoughtful functionality. We created custom high and low-level cabinets in-house, finished in a vibrant yellow that brings real character to the van. To balance the brightness, we paired it with a sleek speckled black worktop, giving the kitchen area a strong yet modern contrast. The cabinetry houses an integrated Savvy Van system, providing a smart, centralised way to manage the van’s functions. Alongside this, we fitted a THQ fridge and a flush induction hob for a clean, uncluttered look. And because comfort and entertainment matter just as much as practicality, we even added a cheeky TV – perfect for winding down after a day on the road.

The layout was designed with flexibility in mind. The van features a Mobiframe floor system paired with a 3-seater bed, making it incredibly versatile for both travel and sleeping arrangements. Whether the family is setting off for a short trip or a longer getaway, this setup means they’ll always have the space they need without compromising on comfort.

On the outside, Speedy doesn’t just blend in – it stands out. We finished it with bronze alloy wheels that give the van a unique edge, while an awning rail was added to extend the living space outdoors when needed. To complete the build, we fitted Vanshades throughout, offering privacy, insulation, and a premium finish that really ties the interior together.

Speedy is more than just a conversion – it’s a van that reflects the personality and needs of its owners.
